about me
………………………………………………………………………………………………

I am Lorelei but known to my family and friends as Lorie, or Lor, or Lo, and even at 27 it bothers me that I can’t find personalized key chains that have my name on them. (Well, ones that aren’t spelled “Lori” anyway.) I grew up in Southern Cali, I’m a big fan of Disney, and Harry Potter, and my mom thinks I’m crazy to still be watching cartoons at my age. No matter, because I do have a grown up side. I am a photographer, a writer, a designer– an entrepreneur. This is the side of me that gets up every week day morning for her nine to five.

..

I’m married to a wonderful man, who served in the United States Marine Corps. Chris and I are blessed parents to excitable, and sometimes moody boys. As for the moody side, James and Logan probably get that from me. I fully blame that on my hot blooded filipino lineage.

The name Lorelei is from a german folklore, of a siren who sings and lures sailors to their deaths. Gravy. My mom neither knew that it was a german name when she gave it to me, nor did she know that many years in the future her daughter would end up marrying a German. Strange but true. Anyway, the artist Eagle Eye Cherry wrote a song about her. Lyrics are here: When Mermaids Cry. Wanna listen? (mp3)

I was born on the 28th of June. I share birthdays with Mel Brooks, Kathy Bates, John Elway, and Gilda Radner. World War I also began and ended on my birth day.

I can be political when the occasion calls for it, and no I don’t support Bush. I was baptised and raised as a Catholic, but as an adult I have ventured into the role of a Baptist and have grown so much stronger in my faith and understand so much more about God’s grace than ever before.

I am very close to my family, namely my parents, who are wonderful people and who had to put up with three very spoiled kids. Well, maybe only two. My older brother is a veteran in the Marine Corp and my younger sister is finishing up her fourth year of college at UC San Diego. I have more aunts, uncles, and cousins than I can count (or remember), and I love that I come from such a big (and usually loud) family.

I have an affinity for great books, movies (classic and modern), disney, and fairy tales. I majored in English and minored in Theatre. I think Johnny Depp is brilliant, Jim Carrey hilarious, and Angelina Jolie- beautiful. Oh and I’ve seen every single episode of I Love Lucy so many times that I can recite along with the dialouge of every single one. I can do that with Forrest Gump, too (drives people nuts!).
