Had an awesome night with Jess and Vuthny; salsa dancing can really hurt your toes, especially when you’re wearing heels, but it’s a pretty sweet workout on your calves.
Midnight strawberry margaritas and crazy discussions now leave me wide awake at almost two in the morning.
Now I’m watching one of my favorite movies for the fourth time this week, and hopefully by the end of it, I’ll be able to catch some zzz’s.
Well, I suppose I’m exaggerating but it was snowing in San Bernardino today Lightly, but snowing nonetheless.
And it snowed (and hailed!) as I made my way down the 210 freeway to work. There was a bit of rain too but the winds were the definite constant of the morning. I swear sometimes I felt my SUV was going to pick up from the asphalt and fly away with me in it.
My bud Jesse was taking the same freeway today and was around the same area on the fwy that I was (he usually takes the train into LA) and so we chatted up a bit on the celly and it was nice to have a pseudo-carpool buddy for a change
Ah so we are soon coming up on March and James will be taking his test to see if he can get accepted to the private school we’re aching to get him in. We’re putting every penny into this but for his education, it’s worth it.
So Happy Valentine’s Day everybody! Or Happy Valerie Day as Juno has proclaimed it for years now! ♥
I came across it on a random ebay search for camera equipment. It’s so adorable and I’d buy it right now if we weren’t on a budget and random spending isn’t an option… ah well, I’m sure it’ll be around later on.
I haven’t yet decided on who I will vote for as far as the presidential side but as far as the some of the ridiculous propositions that will be on the ballot tomorrow, here is my say:
. Measure S: (L.A. city only) Upholds and updates the city’s current 10 percent telephone-users tax, which has been successfully challenged in court by telephone companies. The measure on the February ballot would “lower†the tax rate to 9 percent but expand the tax to new telephone-like communications technology. No! No! No!
. Prop. 91: Prohibits certain motor vehicle fuel sales and use taxes, that are earma.rked for the Transportation Investment Fund, from being retained in the General Fund. Currently such taxes may be retained if Governor issues a proclamation, a special statute is enacted by a 2/3 vote of the Legislature, repayment occurs within three years, and certain other conditions are met. Requires repayment by 6/30/17 of such vehicle fuel taxes retained in General Fund from 7/1/03 to 6/30/08. Currently repayment is generally required by 6/30/16. Changes how and when General Fund borrowing of certain transportation funds is allowed. No.
Prop. 92: Establishes in state constitution a system of independent public community college districts and Board of Governors. Generally, requires minimum levels of state funding for school districts and community college districts to be calculated separately, using different criteria and separately appropriated. Allocates 10.46 percent of current Proposition 98 school funding maintenance factor to community colleges. Sets community college fees at $15/unit per semester; limits future fee increases. Provides formula for allocation by Legislature to community college districts that would not otherwise receive general fund revenues through community college apportionment. No.
Prop. 93: Reduces the total amount of time a person may serve in the state legislature from 14 years to 12 years.
Allows a person to serve a total of 12 years either in the Assembly, the Senate, or a combination of both.
Provides a transition period to allow current members to serve a total of 12 consecutive years in the house in which they are currently serving, regardless of any prior service in another house. No! No! No!
Props 94-97: REFERENDUM ON AMENDMENT TO INDIAN GAMING COMPACT. Yes
