I took off of work an hour early today and Chris, James, and I headed over to Lytle Creek for some light hiking. The winds were mild to moderate but the weather was all in all gorgeous– not too hot, and just enough breeze to cool you without making you want to reach for a sweater.
It’s really a treat to be able to sit there next to the flowing stream that was once the winter’s snow, and by the time the hot summer winds come mid-June, the waterfall runoff will have gone and the stream will be dried up till after next winter again.
James was hesitant at first, not even wanting to go near the water. Chris coaxed him enough to relax and just have fun climbing the rocks and exploring the area. We tried to find a small enough part of the stream where the rocks were sturdy enough to use as stepping stones to cross to the other side, but the runoff had cut most of the way already. Chris would say, “Woah, can’t go through this way”, and James would reply, “It’s ok, it’s just water, Daddy.”
So fun was had by all– Chris and James doing the small hiking and exploring, and me in tow, snapping shots here and there. Incidentally, we ended up eating at Crabby Bob’s Seafood Grill for dinner.
Oh, and I haven’t posted in a while (so what else is new right), but I’m happy to report that James will soon be a big brother! I’ve got my first OBGYN appointment coming up so that I will know how far along I am and when the due date will be for our upcoming little one.
