He was our try for a girl, but oh did he surprise Chris and me on the day of my ultrasound! Logan is our spunky, dimpled, smiley little boy… James’ little brother and best friend… our mini gymnast, our little daredevil…

But today my baby boy isn’t so much of a baby anymore.. today, Logan turned two years old!

We had a wonderful birthday party yesterday, and with the help of our awesome family and friends, we celebrated our sweet little Logi Bear! And tonight, we’ll be continuing the celebration at Chuck E Cheese :)

Happy Birthday, my sweet LogiBear!!

I know this is mainly a Christmas movie, but the message and song that closes it, is pretty appropriate for the New Year I think. I pray we all have an amazing, prosperous, and blessed New 2009!!

We took James and Logan to their early Christmas present two weekends ago: to ride on the Polar Express Train for a round trip to the North Pole!

The drive to Williams, Arizona was, well, definitely not a short trip. And I must admit, I was a bit worried how the boys were going to be on our first family road trip. But, they did just fine, and we had so much fun showing them the sights and sounds down the 40 and Route 66.

The Polar Express Train Ride was something I’ve been wanting to do since James was two, so I’m really glad that now both brothers were able to enjoy it. We stayed at the Grand Railway Hotel in Williams just for that weekend, and when they tell you it gets really cold in the desert during the wintertime, you better believe it!

Well, regardless of the weather, Williams was still a beautiful sight to see:

Chris’ parents came along too :D

I love this shot of Chris and Logan…

.
I really wanted to take this sign home with me :P

Family Pictures!

.
And in the evening we go for the train ride…

.

.

.
They had hot chocolate and chocolate chip cookies for everyone…

.
Logan couldn’t drink his because it was to hot, so Chris got a bit greedy….

.
So the tradition is, all the kids show up dressed in their jammies, just like in the movie. You can see how some of the adults have fun with it too and dressed up for the occasion ;)

.
The ride ended with the best part: meeting Santa!!

.
Oh but let’s not forget the bell Santa gave to every child who believes! :)

.
.
Well I hope that everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday with their loved ones! I sure did… ate too much of course but loved every minute of it! And Christmas is just right around the corner!!

August 8th, 2008

We met (in person) at the movie theater down the street, about five minutes away from my parents’ house. I was the girl behind the food counter, pink faced from the steam of the hot dog warmer, with my hair pulled back in a bun, and a dirtied apron hanging on my front. He was skinny and smiling, the kind of smile that makes someone look like they have a secret. He donned a leather jacket, the one that still hangs in our coat closet today, the one he will never get tired of. He would later tell me I look “kinda different” from my picture.

We had (originally) “met” when he found the online profile an old friend put up of me as a prank. I remember getting tons of emails from all of these random guys who had nothing better to do than scan the interweb for dates, and I let it keep up for a week for the laugh of it all, hitting reject on every single one till I was fed up with it and shut the whole thing down. The emails stopped coming eventually, save for one. The one I had actually answered out of them all– the one that made me laugh.

Or rather his picture did. The profile picture he put up was of his Marine photo, which they all take after graduating boot camp, that has them sitting awkwardly in front of a Marine flag and a blue-white background. It looked just like every other Marine photo, white cover (a.k.a. the hat they wear) with the USMC logo in the front, and smartly pressed dress blues. The one thing that made his photo different from the rest was that he was actually smiling! Now, if you have seen other Marine photos you know they do not smile. I don’t know if it’s just their custom, but they don’t smile. Well if you know Chris, you already know he did. Yup, he had this big grin in his photo, and he told me once that the marine photographer kept getting annoyed with him and actually told him to stop grinning, haha. But you can’t stop Chris from being his happy self, no sir. So that big secret holding goofy grin is pretty much what captured my attention… and later on, my heart.

I have always been weary, or ashamed rather, of telling people the “real” way we first met, as opposed to the way I prefer to remember (the first one I mentioned). I don’t know why to be honest, because without my friend’s (once thought of as) stupid prank, I don’t know if Chris and I would have ever crossed paths otherwise. And yeah he can be trying sometimes, and we’ve been through our own share of, ahem, stormy weather, but he puts up with me– for those who know me, and my worst faults, yeah, they’ll whole heartedly agree he deserves a medal.

We don’t have everything in common, but that would be boring if we did. One thing we are alike at is being insane Disney fanatics. We even honeymooned for three days at Disney World, and then hopped on board for the rest of the four days on the Disney Cruise ship, The Disney Wonder, and partied it up in the Bahamas a la Disney style. We go to Disneyland at least twice a month, and I’m pretty sure we’ve conditioned both James and Logan to continue in our disney fanatical legacy by this point.

So, today is our Triple 8. It’s truly an amazing day for us because, as corny as it is, the number “8″ is our special number. We love that it symbolizes infinity, never ending… always. We became an official dating couple on the eight of july, eight months after I saw his smiling face at the movies, and it’s pretty much become our lucky number. Oh and this year will make it eight years together.. yeah you can’t make that stuff up.

To my Bear, my Babe, my Love… “you are my sunshine, my only sunshine”, my light, my star, my happy place… my “always and forever“. Thank you for being an unbelievably amazing dad to our sons, and for being the addicted gamer, trekkie, fellow Disney fanatic, and HP fan that you are. This date will only come once in our lifetime, but it’s you and me, far longer than forever. I love you.

February 14th, 2008

Well, I suppose I’m exaggerating but it was snowing in San Bernardino today :) Lightly, but snowing nonetheless.

And it snowed (and hailed!) as I made my way down the 210 freeway to work. There was a bit of rain too but the winds were the definite constant of the morning. I swear sometimes I felt my SUV was going to pick up from the asphalt and fly away with me in it.

My bud Jesse was taking the same freeway today and was around the same area on the fwy that I was (he usually takes the train into LA) and so we chatted up a bit on the celly and it was nice to have a pseudo-carpool buddy for a change :P

Ah so we are soon coming up on March and James will be taking his test to see if he can get accepted to the private school we’re aching to get him in. We’re putting every penny into this but for his education, it’s worth it.

So Happy Valentine’s Day everybody! Or Happy Valerie Day as Juno has proclaimed it for years now! ♥

Me and James (I am in a renaissance gown– tried to go as Arwen but forgot to buy the elvish ears :P )

Chris joined us after work (and I got out of my costume because the train part of the dress was getting really dirty)

Many more pictures are located on our church website here. ;)

October 30th, 2005

Chris’ parents came over for a visit today around 2pm. James of course was uber excited to see his grandma and grandpa. We went to eat a late lunch at Mimi’s Cafe, then afterwards stopped by and hung out at the neighborhood pumpkin patch, aptly called “The Harvest Carnival”.

James had a great time, checking out the petting zoo, and all the jumpers they had (all ten of them!!). They had the best kettle corn there too, and we took home a medium and large size pumpkin for a total of $12 (pretty sweet price).

Anyway, pictures of course, but I didn’t bring my camera (yes I am crazy) and again my cell phone came to the rescue ;)
